Editorial policy

Purpose

The Oncologist Speaks gives patients and families in Nepal and India clear, evidence-based information about cancer. Its medical content is written to inform, not to promote. We do not publish fees, offers, patient testimonials or claims that any doctor or hospital is “the best”.

Who writes and reviews

  • All medical content is written or reviewed by Dr. Kushal Rizal, Consultant Medical Oncologist (MBBS; postgraduate degree in medical oncology, Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University).
  • Each medical page shows who wrote or reviewed it and the date it was last reviewed.

Sources

  • Content is based on international clinical practice guidelines (NCCN, ESMO and ASCO), the WHO classification of tumors, peer-reviewed research and, where available, national guidance from India (such as ICMR consensus documents) and Nepal.
  • Key sources are listed on each page so readers can check them.
  • When evidence is uncertain or experts disagree, we say so.

Use of AI tools

Parts of this website, including its design and some first drafts, were prepared with the help of an AI assistant (Claude, by Anthropic). Every medical statement is checked, edited and approved by Dr. Rizal before it is published. AI tools are never used to give individual medical advice.

Review and updates

  • Medical pages are reviewed at least every 12 months, and sooner when an important guideline or new evidence changes practice.
  • The “Last reviewed” date is updated only after a real review.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us at [email protected] or WhatsApp +977-9705243015. Confirmed errors are corrected within 7 days, and significant corrections are noted at the end of the page with the date.

Advertising and independence

  • Advertising, from Google and from direct sponsors, is limited to the Recent developments in oncology section. All other pages, including the home page, About, Expertise, Second opinion and every cancer guide, are ad-free.
  • Ads are labelled “Advertisement” and kept separate from the article text.
  • Advertisers have no say in what is written. Medical content is never changed to suit an advertiser, and patients' interests come first.
  • We do not accept ads for unproven cancer cures, for other doctors or hospitals, or for alcohol, tobacco or gambling.
  • Dr. Rizal has no financial relationship with drug or medical device companies. Any future relationship will be disclosed on the pages it concerns.

Patient privacy

No patient's name, photograph, reports or story is published without their written consent, and identifying details are removed. See Privacy & your reports.
